There is really not much to mention today. We all met for breakfast at Tecolates. Yummy for everyone ! From here, the men went to the local golf course for their entertainment while my friend, Ty, and I found other sources for our enjoyment.
We went to the Farmer's Market first. It's the best one I've ever seen, although it was a bit light today, maybe because it's a short week day, 7 am to noon. Everything is SO colorful and fresh ! Much of it is organic. Steve and I may come back first thing Saturday morning before we leave to go home. We have orders from friends for some fresh Hatch green chiles.
Then Ty and I went to one of the plant nurseries here that we hadn't been to before. We'll probably hit some others over the next few days. Then we went downtown to look around. There were a few shops that I wanted to visit, and some she wanted to show me. A new bead store I hadn't seen ! A jewelry store we missed last time ! Because my birthday was last Friday, and hers is this Friday we set a limit and decided to buy each other something while we were shopping. When we saw what we liked we could tell the other "This is it !" That way, we both got exactly what we wanted ! We went into a shop that we hadn't meant to go to but we ended up finding the greatest necklace for Ty. It was a string of purple sugalite bears and heishi beads. With matching earrings, of course ! When Claudia (the owner) heard our birthday story, she let both of us choose a gift from her case of beaded keychains. How sweet is that !
We both had the taco plate at Tia Sofias for lunch. We were glad to get off our feet for awhile. But we were walking again soon after. We went to the Cathedral on the Plaza and later visited the San Miguel Mission, which was built almost 400 years ago. It is always so nice to visit the peaceful interiors of these ancient adobe chapels. The painted altar was beautiful.
We soon heard from the boys who were finished with golf and relaxing at our trailer. We got together to share the stories of our adventures and decide what to do for dinner. We ate at one of our favorite places here, Los Potrillos. Now, it's time for bed again as the day slips by and makes it one more day closer to having to go home. We do not look forward to going back to 106 degrees.
oh ! I forgot to mention that the other evening, while we were waiting in line at a restaurant, an Indian was there talking to someone he knew in line next to us. We could not help overhearing that he and the others in the tribe (do they still call it a tribe ?) had been doing the rain dance the past few months, then they let the powers take over. I begged him to come to Texas to do his rain dance there. He said that we could do it ourselves, because it is the women who have the power. We are to fill our mouths with water, then spit it into the air in each of the four directions. But, he said, you must do it with intent ! And afterward, you must have gratitude. I told him we have both ! So, something to do when we get home !
I'm loving all the reports of your activities, shopping and otherwise! Also like to hear about what goodies you order at the restaurants ... yum!
ReplyDeleteLove the photos, too!
Spit, huh? Well, that sounds easier to do than the Nekkid Turtle Dance if not as much fun ... LOL
